Which Horror Films Did You Become Emotionally Invested In?

One of the biggest complaints I hear about horror movies from people who don’t even try to appreciate them is that they’re only good for blood and guts, that there’s no substance to the films. For many of these detractors, it’s impossible to convince them of the wealth of emotion and investment that many of us make with these movies. These aren’t just characters on a screen, they’re a representation of the struggle, pain, hardships, and alienation that we often feel. I know people love meeting Robert Englund because Freddy Krueger is such a cool villain but I’ve seen firsthand how people meet Heather Langenkamp and thank her for showing how much strength Nancy possessed. It’s moments like that that show me how incredible this genre really is.

That’s why I want to know some of the movies that you watch that really matter to you on an emotional level. I’ve got a few selections ahead and after you check them out I want to see the ones that hit you.
