Margaret White (Carrie)
King’s first villain is truly one of his best. What makes Margaret so frightening is that she is so real. There are actually people like Margaret White still alive in the world today, and it’s absolutely terrifying. It was Piper Laurie, though, who seared Margaret’s memory into all of our brains. Margaret’s fanaticism and insanity were brought to life by Laurie, who was even nominated for an Oscar for her portrayal. Patricia Clarkson and Juliane Moore did decent jobs in the role, but it’s Laurie who will always be remembered as the Margaret White.
