The Conjuring
This is a weird one but hear me out. I saw The Conjuring at the Fantasia Fest in Montreal and I was blown away. The crowd was absolutely perfect! They stayed quiet when they needed, they screamed when a scare happened, and they laughed when the scene called for it. It was the most respectful crowd ever. Additionally, the projector was at full blast and the sound system was cranked, so the experience was absolutely stunning.
When I came home, I grabbed several friends and we all went to a local theater (not the same theater as where I saw Halloween) to check it out. The crowd kept talking throughout the movie. Admittedly it was in really hushed tones but it was loud enough to be distracting. Additionally, the projector didn’t seem as bright and the sound system was lacking. I didn’t hear little things that I had heard at Fantasia.
It was just a really disappointing experience and it really showed me just how important a good theater is to the overall experience of seeing a movie.
