5. Troll/Troll 2 (Scream Factory)
Scream Factory is probably the leader in double features. As far as I know they’re the only company that releases them on a regular basis. 2015 saw them release a number of these double features and the Troll/Troll 2 double feature is the first of three that made my top 5 list.
Unless I missed something along the way, this release marked the debut of Troll to Blu-ray and what a debut it was. Is it a perfect looking transfer, no, but it looks far better than I would have ever imagined a Troll release to look. Included is a Making of Troll special feature which is pretty awesome. It comes in at just under an hour and features interviews with various folks that worked on the film. It’s highly entertaining.
The “sequel” to Troll, Troll 2, has previously seen Blu-ray releases in the past. As far as I can tell the transfer on this Scream Factory release is the same as the previous MGM release, which is a very solid transfer. What this does have that is new is an audio commentary with George Hardy and Deborah Reed. Whenever you get the chance to hear actros from an infamous film discuss said film years later, you always take it. Some interesting tidbits are discussed here making for a very nice addition.
The set also has a bonus DVD of the wonderful documentary Best Worst Movie included. This disc also contains a rather large collection of bonus features. No one is going to try and pretend that either Troll film is a good movie, but they are a lot of fun and very entertaining. If you want to own them, this is the way to go.
