REC
I’m detecting a theme here, and it’s dragging me back to Deodato’s magnum opus. Seeing REC was like a massive sigh of relief for innovative modern horror. I’m sure anyone reading this article has seen REC, I’m not sure I can say anything meaningful about it here. It’s like Evil Dead in an apartment block. One of my favourite aspects of modern horror films is when they reference other horror films; you get that smug feeling of knowing the reference. You can’t be a film scholar unless you perfect the sage nod.
