The ‘Jaws’ Sequels Are Finally Coming to Blu-ray!
Last June I wrote my first piece for Bloody Disgusting. It was a ‘Jaws-a-Thon’ in which I wrote about all 4 films in the series to help celebrate the 40th anniversary of Spielberg’s original classic. Despite what it may seem like from the things I said, I actually love all 4 movies even if the 3 sequels are all pretty bad. Anytime any of these films are on, I stop what I’m doing and watch them. And my opinions change on them every now and then. In fact, I’m starting to come around Jaws 2. I used to hate it, but now I’m starting to think it’s actually kind of good.
Anyway, when I wrote about all 4 films I watched Jaws on Blu-ray and had to settle for watching the sequels on DVD. This really bummed me out and at the time it didn’t look like Universal would be releasing them on Blu-ray anytime soon. Fast forward a year later and things have changed! On June 14th we’re getting all three Jaws sequels on Blu-ray and what a glorious day that will be!
While this news is undoubtedly exciting and I cannot wait to own these all on Blu-ray, they won’t be as great as they should be. Universal has chosen not to include any new special features. In fact, there’s actually less. Most of the special features for Jaws 2 are imported over from the 3-film DVD set released last year, but not all. Two features – one shark facts and another production photographs – did not make the leap for some strange reason. I’ll be honest, those special features spoke to me the least so I’m not going to lose any sleep over their lack of appearance. The killer is the lack of special features for Jaws 3D and Jaws: The Revenge. Any type of behind-the-scenes footage, making-of or commentary would have been amazing on those films, but unfortunately we won’t be seeing any of that.
All is not lost, however! While the special features may be lacking, Jaws 3D will come with the option to watch the film in 3D! This is pretty amazing. I’ve never seen the film in 3D and look very much forward to doing so! So yes, they may not be perfect, but rejoice Jaws fans as we are finally getting the sequels on Blu-ray!
Jaws 2
The horror is far from over as Roy Scheider, Lorraine Gary and Murray Hamilton reprise their iconic roles in Jaws 2. Police Chief Brody (Scheider) finds himself in a race against time when a new shark attacks ten sailboats manned by teenagers, including his own two sons. The same heart-stopping suspense and gripping adventure that enthralled movie audiences throughout the world in Jaws returns in this worthy sequel to the original motion picture classic.Bonus Features:

The most famous shark of all time is back…bigger and more terrifying than ever in Jaws 3 starring Dennis Quaid, Bess Armstrong, Simon MacCorkindale and Louis Gossett Jr. Everyone at Florida’s Sea World is thrilled with the new “Undersea Kingdom,” a maze of underwater plexiglass tunnels that permits visitors to get closer to marine life than ever before. The opening ceremonies include many important guests…and one uninvited baby shark who accidentally enters the park’s lagoon through a faulty sea gate and subsequently dies. The young shark’s 35-foot mother soon follows her offspring, creating the most horrifying tale of terror ever filmed in the water. Directed by Joe Alves, the original Jaws designer, and co-written by Carl Gottlieb who penned the first two blockbusters, this action-packed adventure will have you screaming for your life.Bonus Features:

Grief-stricken, she travels to the Bahamas to be with her other son, a marine biologist (Lance Guest), and his family. There she meets and falls for a carefree airplane pilot (Academy Award® winner Michael Caine). ‘Ready or Not 2: Here I Come’ Arrives on Hulu and Disney+ Next Week
Get ready for double the fun, protagonists, and body count when Ready or Not 2: Here I Come explodes on streaming next week.
Just in time for the fireworks, the sequel makes its streaming debut on Hulu and Disney+ on July 2.
Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett are back, along with Samara Weaving, for more hide and slay mayhem.
Picking up moments after the all-out attack from the Le Domas family in the first Ready or Not movie, Grace (Weaving) discovers she’s reached the next level of the nightmarish game — and this time with her estranged sister Faith (Kathryn Newton) at her side. Grace has one chance to survive, keep her sister alive, and claim the High Seat of the Council that controls the world. Four rival families are hunting her for the throne, and whoever wins rules it all.
That means a higher body count and even more explosive carnage. Just how much? A whopping 325 gallons worth, the directors previously told BD.
Sarah Michelle Gellar, Shawn Hatosy, Néstor Carbonell, David Cronenberg, Elijah Wood, Kevin Durand, Olivia Cheng, Varun Saranga, and Daniel Beirne also star.
I wrote in my review for Bloody Disgusting, “More is more in Ready or Not 2. Bigger stakes, larger playing field, a higher (and more gruesome) body count, and even double the protagonists. It’s all designed to deliver maximum crowd-pleasing fun.”
The horror-comedy sequel is written by Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy.
