NETFLIX: Horror Films Streaming This November

Published

on

While Netflix boasted their own Halloween selection, the amount of horror films added to their streaming service last month was nothing short of disappointing. And while November’s list isn’t much better, there are a handful of really good movies that you’ll be able to watch over and over all month long. Thanks, Paramount…

Candyman 2: Farewell to the Flesh

Directed by Bill Condon and starring Tony Todd, Tony Todd, William O’Leary, Bill Nunn, Matt Clark. The Candyman moves on to New Orleans and starts his horrific murders once more. This time, his intended victim is a school teacher whose father was killed by the Candyman, and her brother was wrongly accused of the murders.

Cujo

While Donna and Vic Trenton struggle to save their rocky marriage, their son Tad befriends the loveable 200-lb St. Bernard who belongs to their mechanic. But what they don’t realise is that a bat bite has transformed Cujo from a docile pup to a vicious killer.

Ravenous

It’s a recipe for nonstop action and excitement when the inhabitants of an isolated military outpost go up against a marauding band of cannibals in a deadly struggle for survival! Ever watchful of the enemies who might literally tear them apart, the uneasy alliance of soldiers must fight brutal elements of the Sierra Nevada wilderness — as well as their own murderous instincts to stay alive. Directed by Antonia Bird (Priest), this white-knuckle thriller stars Guy Pearce (Iron Man 3, Prometheus), Robert Carlyle (Once Upon A Time) and David Arquette (Scream 4).

Stephen King’s Thinner

A 109-year-old gypsy, hell-bent on revenge, exacts a curse so shocking it compels its victim to gorge himself in an effort to avoid shrinking away to nothingness. With time running out and a torture so bizarre and powerful, even death seems a more likely option.

Tales from the Darkside: The Movie

“The Wraparound Story” concerns a little boy who spins all the tales…to distract a modern-day witch who wants to pop him in the oven! In “Lot 249,” a malevolent mummy gives new meaning to “final exams” when he awakens to wreak revenge on unsuspecting student bodies. A furry black kitty is really the “Cat From Hell,” and a “Lover’s Vow” brings a stone gargoyle to murderous life.

backrooms box office Backrooms Digital Release

Are you ready to go back?

After a record-breaking box office run and an extended cut re-release, A24 and director Kane Parsons’ Backrooms is heading home to Digital.

Backrooms will be available to rent or buy this Tuesday, July 14.

In the film, Chiwetel Ejiofor stars in Backrooms as the owner of Cap’n Clark’s Ottoman Empire, who discovers a strange doorway in the basement of the furniture showroom. He sets out to explore the mysterious, liminal space, walking headfirst into a creepypasta nightmare.

Renate Reinsve (A Different Man) also stars in Backrooms.

Will Soodik wrote the screenplay.

I wrote in my review, “Backrooms is at once complex and sparse, but never repetitive. It might be set in 1990, but it effectively captures modern anxieties and isolation in a way that frequently makes your skin crawl. While the journey ultimately loses steam by its cryptic end, Parsons’ visual representation of the human psyche disturbs like no other.”

YouTube prodigy Kane Parsons makes his feature directorial debut based on his creepypasta-inspired video series, which debuted in 2022 and has amassed over 190 million views to date.
