‘Crawl’: Alexandre Aja Talks Building Suspense in the Alligator’s Nest [Exclusive]
Alexandre Aja‘s alligator horror flick Crawl (read our review) is taking a bite out of Digital HD today (September 24th) before arriving on DVD and Blu-ray on October 15th.
In Crawl, produced by Sam Raimi, “When a massive hurricane hits her Florida hometown, Haley (Kaya Scodelario) ignores evacuation orders to search for her missing father (Barry Pepper). Finding him gravely injured in the crawl space of their family home, the two become trapped by quickly encroaching floodwaters. As time runs out to escape the strengthening storm, Haley and her father discover that the rising water level is the least of their fears.”
The special features include an alternate opening and deleted/extended scenes, and there are also a handful of featurettes, one that we have an exclusive sneak-peek at today.
In the following clip that mixes behind-the-scenes shots with actual footage, Alex Aja explains the use of silence in building suspense within the alligator’s nest.
One of my personal favorite horror movies of all time, 1987’s gateway horror classic The Gate is opening back up on May 14 with a brand new Blu-ray SteelBook release from Lionsgate!
The new release will feature fresh SteelBook artwork from Vance Kelly, seen below.

When best friends Glen (Stephen Dorff) and Terry (Louis Tripp) stumble across a mysterious crystalline rock in Glen’s backyard, they quickly dig up the newly sodden lawn searching for more precious stones.
