Netflix Series “Wednesday” Coming to DVD and Blu-ray in March
It’s never a sure thing for a Netflix Original to get a physical media release, but the streaming service surprises us from time to time. On that note, “Wednesday” is coming to Blu-ray!
“Wednesday” Season One will be available to own on Blu-ray and DVD March 26.
From the creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (“Smallville”), and director Tim Burton (Beetlejuice), the kooky and spooky first season of “Wednesday,” the TV series based on Wednesday Addams of the iconic Addams Family, which streams on Netflix and is produced by MGM Television, a division of Amazon MGM Studios, comes to DVD and Blu-ray March 26, 2024. “Wednesday” Season One will be available to purchase online and in-store from major retailers.
The series stars Jenna Ortega as Wednesday, Gwendoline Christie as Principal Larissa Weems, Jamie McShane as Sheriff Donovan Galpin, Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin, Percy Hynes White as Xavier Thorpe, Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair, and Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay. Guest stars include Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams, and Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester.
The critically-acclaimed series received 12 Emmy nominations in 2023 including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series for Jenna Ortega who became the second youngest woman to ever be nominated in the category and the third Latina following Rita Moreno and America Ferrera. Tim Burton was nominated for Best Director For A Comedy Series. The 8-episode series was watched for almost 6 billion minutes during its first five days available on Netflix and remains Netflix’s most popular English TV series of all time with 252.1 Million views.
“Wednesday” is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.
“Wednesday” will return to Netflix for a second season, with Jenna Ortega teasing a horror-heavy approach to the new season. An Uncle Fester spinoff series has also been discussed.
After scaring up a strong theatrical run, Oddity director Damian McCarthy’s Hokum heads home to Digital this week.
Settle in for a spooky supernatural chiller as Hokum arrives on all Digital platforms to rent or own beginning June 2, followed by a Blu-ray/4K Ultra HD Combo and DVD release on August 11, 2026.
Adam Scott (“Severance”) stars in Hokum as reclusive novelist Ohm Bauman. When he retreats to a remote Irish inn to scatter his parents’ ashes, the staff’s tales of an ancient witch haunting the honeymoon suite take hold of his mind. Disturbing visions and a shocking disappearance draw Ohm into a nightmarish confrontation with the darkest corners of his past.
Peter Coonan (“The Alienist: Angel of Darkness”), David Wilmot (“Station Eleven”), Florence Ordesh (“Departure”), Michael Patric (“Frontier”), Will O’Connell (“Game of Thrones”), Brendan Conroy (“Bodkin”), and Austin Amelio (“The Walking Dead”) also star.

I wrote in my review for Bloody Disgusting, “A quaint Irish hotel with a deeply haunted history awaits an American writer in McCarthy’s third outing, continuing his streak for folkloric tales of supernatural karma and spine-tingling terror with a dark sense of humor.”
What’s next from Damian McCarthy? He’s currently writing a haunted house movie, but recent comments suggest he may be moving into other genres beyond that upcoming project.
