Starring horror icons Lin Shaye (Insidious) and Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects), Scared to Death will haunt Digital on May 5 via Atlas Distribution.
The supernatural horror-comedy is written and directed by music video helmer Paul Boyd (Shania Twain, Sting, Deadmau5), loosely based on actual events.
Opportunistic aspiring filmmaker Jasper seizes an opportunity to step into the director’s chair by convincing his cantankerous boss to take their cast and crew to a real séance for research on their upcoming horror film.
The chosen location is an abandoned children’s orphanage, shuttered decades earlier after the mysterious deaths of five children. Once the séance begins, the group finds themselves trapped inside the house as unexplained and increasingly terrifying events unfold.
As the line between performance and reality blurs, the filmmakers are forced to confront supernatural forces far beyond anything they imagined — along with their own fears, beliefs, and survival instincts.
Olivier Paris, Victoria Konefal (“Days of Our Lives”), B.J. Minor (“Bel-Air”), Jade Chynoweth (300: Rise of an Empire), Rae Dawn Chong (Commando), Lucinda Jenney (Thinner), and musician Kurt Deimer (Halloween 2018) round out the cast.
Steve Poster (Donnie Darko, Rocky V) serves as cinematographer. Eric Barrett and Todd Slater of Convoke Media produce.
Shaye will return in Insidious 6, due out on August 21.
