WORLD OF DEATH Ep. 76 – Mothman / Murder

What’s up WOD watchers??

Welcome back to the Thursday edition of World Of Death.  Did everyone enjoy that trailer for Invaders that we dropped on you yesterday?  I know we’re stoked!  We hope you are too.  It’s real gut-buster, so stay tuned for my review and the big WORLD OF DEATH PREMIERE OF INVADERS on 5/11!
We have a few appetizers for you leading up to the Invaders premiere next week, so let’s go ahead and sink our teeth into a few shorts on this bloodthirsty Thursday.  Today doesn’t really have a theme besides the fact that they both start with the letter M.  In fact, if these two movies were locked in a room together, they’d have nothing to talk about (except, of course, how awesome it was to be a part of WORLD OF DEATH).  So here we go.
First, we have MOTHMAN from director L.M. Harter.  This one starts out with a young woman driving through the countryside on her way to some unknown destination.  When she arrives, we find out she was sent to take care of the absent owner’s cat, Princess.  Soon she realizes she’s not alone when strange noises start and things are moved around in the house.  Oh, and the fucking cat is nowhere to be found. My guess is that the Mothman probably ate it.  This is a good effort in suspense.  It has a nice slow build to the “shocking” ending.  It actually has a very eerie feeling throughout the film and I’m not sure it was all intentional.  Either way, it worked.  Also, the Mothman needs to get himself some shoes with better traction.  You’ll see what I mean.
Next up, we have MURDER, by our youngest director in WOD, Charles Rhodes.  That’s right.  Little Charlie Rhodes from down the block is in his backyard filming himself burying bloody shit and making movies while the other kids are playing foursquare or selling lemonade on the corner.  Let’s face it, most kids have their heads buried in their tablets and phones these days.  Anyway, there’s not much of a story here, but who said that was requirement for film?  We follow a young boy (Charles was only 12 when he acted in and directed Murder!) in the woods, burying a bloody bag and that’s it.  Sorry for the spoiler.  But a big thumb’s up to Charles and his cinematic exercise of decent camerawork.  There are some very cool edits and shots that could be a foundation for a budding future filmmaker.  We salute you!  Don’t stop and keep it going.  It’ll only get better from here.
I can’t believe I’m still talking.  Just go watch the damn movies, you weirdos.
Roll it!!
– Dominick DeLuca

Anna Faris & Regina Hall Promise ‘Scary Movie’ Will “Offend Everyone;” New Images Revealed

The Wayans are out to cancel the Cancel Culture with Scary Movie, and the cast assures it will do just that.

“They sort of have an across-the-board style,” Anna Faris tells EW. “It’s always been a part of the Wayans Brothers, their electricity. ‘Can we offend you? Will you still love us? Come on, you still love us, don’t you?'”

Regina Hall concurs, promising the “boundary-pushing” sixth installment in the horror parody franchise will “offend everyone.”

EW has shared a batch of behind-the-scenes images from Scary Movie, which hits theaters June 5 via Paramount.

Faris and Hall are joined by fellow franchise favorites Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Dave Sheridan, Lochlyn Munro, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, and Jon Abrahams in the legacy sequel.

The ensemble includes Damon Wayans Jr., Gregg Wayans, Kim Wayans, Benny Zielke, Cameron Scott Roberts, Heidi Gardner, Olivia Rose Keegan, Ruby Snowber, Savannah Lee Nassif, Sydney Park, Kenan Thompson, and Felissa Rose.

Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House) directs from a script by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, original Scary Movie director Keenen Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans (Scary Movie 2), and Rick Alvarez (A Haunted House).

The film will slash through reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories, anything with the word legacy in it, and everyfinal chapterthat absolutely isn’t final.

Scary Movie launched in 2000, followed by Scary Movie 2 in 2001. The Wayans’ involvement ended there, but the series continued with 2003’s Scary Movie 3, 2006’s Scary Movie 4, and 2013’s Scary Movie 5.
