WORLD OF DEATH Ep. 78 – INVADERS

Hellooooo WOD Watchers!!

Who’s ready for another big premiere today?  It is time to serve you the main course of this week’s cinematic buffet.  The big pay off.  INVADERS is here!  We are super proud to be able to present you this quality flick from director Jason Kupfer.  Playing off the “home invasion” sub-genre of horror, Kupfer cashes in on the trend by bringing us a worthy addition with a comedic twist.

What if you took The Strangers, Funny Games, and You’re Next and mated them with The Three Stooges and young Peter Jackson was the surrogate mother?  I’ll give you a minute to think about it.  Got it?  Alright, enough of Peter Jackson’s theoretical uterus.  This film is about two criminals-in-the-making on the verge of disrupting a lovely family during Thanksgiving dinner.  These two maestros of mishap have seen one too many movies and they think it’s going to be a pretty easy score.  Once they decide on their face-pieces, they approach the house armed with handheld weapons incognito.  However, the homeowner has other plans.  Maybe they should’ve practiced on an orphanage or did a dry run on a convent first.  Something a shade easier than your typical white collar patriarch getting ready to carve a turkey for his family.
Kupfer creates a unique take on this slice of the genre.  Mixing horror with comedy is something I am fully behind.  I think every horror film needs a little lightheartedness, even if it’s just through some dark sarcasm.  That juxtaposition with all the blood, guts, and gloom is what makes a horror film hit you right in the fears.  This film leans more heavily toward the comedy end of the spectrum, but has extreme horror elements.  It’s reminiscent of the Edgar Wright trilogy and has strong characters to anchor the story.  The two morons of mayhem bickering in the car is great banter and some innovative camerawork is displayed throughout the movie.  It’s comprised mostly of static shots, which gives all of the chaos a calming feeling.  The music reminds me of Bad Santa with the soft piano over pure madness.  The special effects and gags are way over-the-top and excessive and that’s the joy of this one.
So here we are, at episode 78, giving you another big World of Death Premiere.  We hope you enjoy this film and hopefully have second thoughts about your planned home invasions this coming weekend.  We know the summer is approaching and people get crazy when the weather gets hot.  Let this film be a reminder to all you wannabe criminals out there.  That shit doesn’t pay.  And you might end up bleeding out on someone’s front lawn.  Sit back and relax.  It’s time for…
INVADERS!!!

Anna Faris & Regina Hall Promise ‘Scary Movie’ Will “Offend Everyone;” New Images Revealed

The Wayans are out to cancel the Cancel Culture with Scary Movie, and the cast assures it will do just that.

“They sort of have an across-the-board style,” Anna Faris tells EW. “It’s always been a part of the Wayans Brothers, their electricity. ‘Can we offend you? Will you still love us? Come on, you still love us, don’t you?'”

Regina Hall concurs, promising the “boundary-pushing” sixth installment in the horror parody franchise will “offend everyone.”

EW has shared a batch of behind-the-scenes images from Scary Movie, which hits theaters June 5 via Paramount.

Faris and Hall are joined by fellow franchise favorites Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Dave Sheridan, Lochlyn Munro, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, and Jon Abrahams in the legacy sequel.

The ensemble includes Damon Wayans Jr., Gregg Wayans, Kim Wayans, Benny Zielke, Cameron Scott Roberts, Heidi Gardner, Olivia Rose Keegan, Ruby Snowber, Savannah Lee Nassif, Sydney Park, Kenan Thompson, and Felissa Rose.

Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House) directs from a script by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, original Scary Movie director Keenen Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans (Scary Movie 2), and Rick Alvarez (A Haunted House).

The film will slash through reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories, anything with the word legacy in it, and everyfinal chapterthat absolutely isn’t final.

Scary Movie launched in 2000, followed by Scary Movie 2 in 2001. The Wayans’ involvement ended there, but the series continued with 2003’s Scary Movie 3, 2006’s Scary Movie 4, and 2013’s Scary Movie 5.
