WORLD OF DEATH Ep. 90 – Moo / Mangy
In this episode of World of Death, we explore humanity’s place in the world amongst our animal brethren. One day, while God was rapping with Noah and his boys, He proclaimed, “The fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth… Into your hand, they are delivered. Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you.” That’s maybe what God had in mind but the animals in this eerie installment think otherwise…
Our first short today is Illinois’ directing trio Drew Peintka, Jesse Allen and Michael Hibbs bringing us “Moo”, an utterly dark and hilarious tale of a young man who rouses the ire of a particularly angry steer who’s had it with disrespectful humans. Everything from the lighting to the cinematography, from the editing to soundtrack, “Moo” is technically impressive and throws back to the madcap days of a 1980’s slasher. The spooky and succinct cautionary tale conjures a world in which the victims in Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle rise up against their oppressors. Next on the agenda, is a black comedy brought to us by RJ Wilson by way of Maine. Hailing from a state that’s 90% forests, RJ is no stranger to nature and our relationship with animals. Perhaps that’s why “Mangy” works so seamlessly. It puts us in the perspective of our canine anti-hero – a run-of-the-mill dog, roaming the streets of suburbia. Filmed in beautiful monochrome, we experience a day-in-the-life of this four-legged furball and the roller coaster of emotions it experiences, from boredom to excitement, as it does what a dog does best. When it encounters something that us humans would find appalling, it’s complete indifference further illustrates the behavioral divide between beast and man, making us question – is dog really man’s best friend?

Anna Faris & Regina Hall Promise ‘Scary Movie’ Will “Offend Everyone;” New Images Revealed
The Wayans are out to cancel the Cancel Culture with Scary Movie, and the cast assures it will do just that.
“They sort of have an across-the-board style,” Anna Faris tells EW. “It’s always been a part of the Wayans Brothers, their electricity. ‘Can we offend you? Will you still love us? Come on, you still love us, don’t you?'”
Regina Hall concurs, promising the “boundary-pushing” sixth installment in the horror parody franchise will “offend everyone.”
EW has shared a batch of behind-the-scenes images from Scary Movie, which hits theaters June 5 via Paramount.
Faris and Hall are joined by fellow franchise favorites Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Dave Sheridan, Lochlyn Munro, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, and Jon Abrahams in the legacy sequel.
The ensemble includes Damon Wayans Jr., Gregg Wayans, Kim Wayans, Benny Zielke, Cameron Scott Roberts, Heidi Gardner, Olivia Rose Keegan, Ruby Snowber, Savannah Lee Nassif, Sydney Park, Kenan Thompson, and Felissa Rose.
Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House) directs from a script by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, original Scary Movie director Keenen Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans (Scary Movie 2), and Rick Alvarez (A Haunted House).
The film will slash through reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories, anything with the word legacy in it, and every “final chapter” that absolutely isn’t final.
Scary Movie launched in 2000, followed by Scary Movie 2 in 2001. The Wayans’ involvement ended there, but the series continued with 2003’s Scary Movie 3, 2006’s Scary Movie 4, and 2013’s Scary Movie 5.
