WORLD OF DEATH Ep. 129 – Mustache Legends / Tooth Fairy
Urban legends can be pretty creepy. Here’s an episode of World of Death with what I would consider being a couple urban legends to keep you up at night.
Up first is Matthias Börner‘s MOUSTACHE LEGENDS where a rather odd instigator causes for a nightmarish evening for our protagonist. After being told a tale about the Moustache-Maniac, a vengeful ghost who slashes anyone to death with a straight razor if they don a costume mustache and chant certain words. So think Candyman mixed with Groucho Marx maybe? Despite a somewhat silly premise, the climax of this short is pretty fun and I particularly enjoy the final moments when our protagonist’s dog runs away… you’ll know what I mean. This short is also a prime example of what drives World of Death’s community. Börner had copywritten music in the short and needed a new soundtrack. He ended up hooking up with my go-to composer DC McAuliffe and he was able to provide Moustache Legends with a new original soundtrack.
Batting second in today’s episode is TOOTH FAIRY directed by Erik Brandon & Jennifer Tullis. I’m sure there are people out there who are afraid of the Tooth Fairy and I consider there to be just cause. It’s pretty eerie if you think about it? Some random person steals your teeth from under your child’s pillow while they sleep. Who the hell came up with that?! Well, let’s just say that the Tooth Fairy in this short is not even remotely close to the kindhearted whimsical woman of legend. He looks a lot more like the maintenance man from Tobe Hooper’s Toolbox Murders reboot. That said, where this short may fall short in its technical aspects, I can give it credit for in eeriness and brutality. Check it out and sleep with one eye open tonight… and your mouth firmly sealed!

Anna Faris & Regina Hall Promise ‘Scary Movie’ Will “Offend Everyone;” New Images Revealed
The Wayans are out to cancel the Cancel Culture with Scary Movie, and the cast assures it will do just that.
“They sort of have an across-the-board style,” Anna Faris tells EW. “It’s always been a part of the Wayans Brothers, their electricity. ‘Can we offend you? Will you still love us? Come on, you still love us, don’t you?'”
Regina Hall concurs, promising the “boundary-pushing” sixth installment in the horror parody franchise will “offend everyone.”
EW has shared a batch of behind-the-scenes images from Scary Movie, which hits theaters June 5 via Paramount.
Faris and Hall are joined by fellow franchise favorites Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Dave Sheridan, Lochlyn Munro, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, and Jon Abrahams in the legacy sequel.
The ensemble includes Damon Wayans Jr., Gregg Wayans, Kim Wayans, Benny Zielke, Cameron Scott Roberts, Heidi Gardner, Olivia Rose Keegan, Ruby Snowber, Savannah Lee Nassif, Sydney Park, Kenan Thompson, and Felissa Rose.
Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House) directs from a script by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, original Scary Movie director Keenen Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans (Scary Movie 2), and Rick Alvarez (A Haunted House).
The film will slash through reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories, anything with the word legacy in it, and every “final chapter” that absolutely isn’t final.
Scary Movie launched in 2000, followed by Scary Movie 2 in 2001. The Wayans’ involvement ended there, but the series continued with 2003’s Scary Movie 3, 2006’s Scary Movie 4, and 2013’s Scary Movie 5.
