WORLD OF DEATH Ep. 137 – Mindless / Trepan

Published

on

It is difficult these days to meet the right person. Try as we might, we find issues with everyone or they find issues with us. Slash right, slash left, in the end all you have is a pile of parts left over from the dreams of a new era. Well, we can’t all just create our own monsters, some of us have to seek them in the wild.

This brings us to Matt Stuertz’s “Mindless.” In a story as perverse as our own headlines, we watch a very complicated figure succumb to madness, ultimately growing to accept that he has so much more to learn.
That is all our hero wanted. Tired of treading the treacherous waters of the friend zone, this relatively upset if not mad, scientist devises a machine that will allow the user to avoid the horrors of personal interaction and force the target to obey his will. Unfortunately, things don’t always go as planned…

Next we look at “Trepan” by Chris Wendland and Raymond Morse. In our second dark parable, we find ourselves following along an unknown figure, wondering what will happen next. She is distressed, but where is here assailant? As she runs past the latest victims, we know things are just getting darker. The darkness of this story is paralleled by gruesome effects likened to a cavalcade of horrors straight out of Savini’s workshop. What makes this take particularly terrifying is the way we simply don’t know what is happening until it is too late. But then again kiddies, that is always how it happens isn’t it?

There you go, another fantastic pair of tales to bring you to the edge of sanity and give you a nice little push. Keep tuned every week as we bring you more from the World of Death!

Anna Faris & Regina Hall Promise ‘Scary Movie’ Will “Offend Everyone;” New Images Revealed

The Wayans are out to cancel the Cancel Culture with Scary Movie, and the cast assures it will do just that.

“They sort of have an across-the-board style,” Anna Faris tells EW. “It’s always been a part of the Wayans Brothers, their electricity. ‘Can we offend you? Will you still love us? Come on, you still love us, don’t you?'”

Regina Hall concurs, promising the “boundary-pushing” sixth installment in the horror parody franchise will “offend everyone.”

EW has shared a batch of behind-the-scenes images from Scary Movie, which hits theaters June 5 via Paramount.

Faris and Hall are joined by fellow franchise favorites Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Dave Sheridan, Lochlyn Munro, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, and Jon Abrahams in the legacy sequel.

The ensemble includes Damon Wayans Jr., Gregg Wayans, Kim Wayans, Benny Zielke, Cameron Scott Roberts, Heidi Gardner, Olivia Rose Keegan, Ruby Snowber, Savannah Lee Nassif, Sydney Park, Kenan Thompson, and Felissa Rose.

Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House) directs from a script by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, original Scary Movie director Keenen Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans (Scary Movie 2), and Rick Alvarez (A Haunted House).

The film will slash through reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories, anything with the word legacy in it, and everyfinal chapterthat absolutely isn’t final.

Scary Movie launched in 2000, followed by Scary Movie 2 in 2001. The Wayans’ involvement ended there, but the series continued with 2003’s Scary Movie 3, 2006’s Scary Movie 4, and 2013’s Scary Movie 5.
