[World of Death] December’s Gifts: “Distortion” and “Stories of the Subconscious Mind”

Published

Cheers to you and to your health, friends and neighbors. We are glad you could join us for this exhibition of fright today. Our fiends have been hard at work creating dark tales for your pleasure… and this is one that you should especially take notice of.

In our first tale, Distortion”, by Gregory Papinutto, the world of thrill and power is treated to a turn in the sadistic when a group of friends descends upon an abandoned, or at least apparently vacant church. Loud music, drinking and sex seem like the right things to bring to this scenario. What has ever gone wrong with that cocktail? Well not to ruin any surprises, but oh no – they are not in fact as alone as they thought. Our story turns quickly to our hero as she soon realizes that she is being stalked by a beast that has killed her friends and will certainly do the same to her should she be caught. Luckily, she is willing to fight back. Unlike many final girls, this one will do what it takes to survive, including attacking the monster with no mercy. However, soon she discovers that all is not as it appears to be. Gee, what was in that drink anyway? Needless to say, this one is not going out without making a final break for it. While she may be one step ahead of the monsters, rest assured there is no guarantee that she will come out ahead. Dark and full of atmosphere, this is one tale that might make a teetotaler out of anyone.

“Stories of the Subconscious Mind” is the second tale of terror we bring you this month. What does the mind shutter from consciousness without our actions? An undiscovered country, that is certain. However, we do gain glimpses into our impulses, our other worlds we create in our mind that seep into our living days as stray daydreams or just an iota of a presumed dream memory. For one therapist, it is not so hidden. In fact, she has quite the repository of secret histories in her catacombs. But at what cost to her? If you could discover another’s darkest thoughts, their hidden horrors, would you dare risk personal harm – even to save them from themselves? If you are willing to be introspective today, this tale will turn you on and throw you around. Just remember, sometimes that nagging notion is just a song or phrase locked on repeat – and sometimes it is your greater reality begging to be broken free.

That is all for today folks. Make sure to tune in again next month for more from World of Death. As they say, too much of a good thing can be bad for your health. Be it drinks, food, love or even self-awareness that all begin like a gentle stream but can quickly turn rapid.  Sooner or later you could end up going over the waterfall. In the end, perhaps it is safer to stick to the rivers and the lakes that you are used to.

Anna Faris & Regina Hall Promise ‘Scary Movie’ Will “Offend Everyone;” New Images Revealed

Published

The Wayans are out to cancel the Cancel Culture with Scary Movie, and the cast assures it will do just that.

“They sort of have an across-the-board style,” Anna Faris tells EW. “It’s always been a part of the Wayans Brothers, their electricity. ‘Can we offend you? Will you still love us? Come on, you still love us, don’t you?'”

Regina Hall concurs, promising the “boundary-pushing” sixth installment in the horror parody franchise will “offend everyone.”

EW has shared a batch of behind-the-scenes images from Scary Movie, which hits theaters June 5 via Paramount.

Faris and Hall are joined by fellow franchise favorites Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Dave Sheridan, Lochlyn Munro, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, and Jon Abrahams in the legacy sequel.

The ensemble includes Damon Wayans Jr., Gregg Wayans, Kim Wayans, Benny Zielke, Cameron Scott Roberts, Heidi Gardner, Olivia Rose Keegan, Ruby Snowber, Savannah Lee Nassif, Sydney Park, Kenan Thompson, and Felissa Rose.

Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House) directs from a script by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, original Scary Movie director Keenen Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans (Scary Movie 2), and Rick Alvarez (A Haunted House).

The film will slash through reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories, anything with the word legacy in it, and everyfinal chapterthat absolutely isn’t final.

Scary Movie launched in 2000, followed by Scary Movie 2 in 2001. The Wayans’ involvement ended there, but the series continued with 2003’s Scary Movie 3, 2006’s Scary Movie 4, and 2013’s Scary Movie 5.
