[World of Death] March Features Horror Shorts “The Guy” and “Headhunter(s)”
Hola, amigos! Welcome back to the World of Death! It’s been a while since I rapped at ya but there’s been a whole lot of craziness going on.
First up we have The Guy, written, starring, and directed by Jon Fusco. The knee-jerk reaction to The Guy is that it’s slick and dreamlike… as long as you’re the type of person that has really obtuse dreams where your mother (played by Tara Westwood from The Grudge reboot) commands you to touch Jerry’s fish. I’ll be completely honest with you readers, this is your old boy Pat O coming at you with some real talk – dream logic movies can sometimes rub me the wrong way. Forsaking a cohesive narrative, jarring performances, and scattershot dialogue either works or it doesn’t. Thankfully an overabundance of wood paneling in the set design of The Guy made me feel like I was tripping balls in the Midwestern basements of my youth, so I’ll give it a pass. Long story short, The Guy is a trippy, heady, very Lynchian good time, but it could have used more werewolves.
And now for something completely different!
This month’s second film, Headhunter(s), courtesy of Dillon Brown and Horror Nerd Productions, opens with a rather inexpensive sex worker in a pair of fishnets. I don’t know the exact circumstances behind its production, but I’d bet dollars to donuts this is a student film because it reminds me of every student film I ever shot in the parking lot of the community college I went to. Despite the apparent low budget, the practical FX in Headhunter(s) are solid and it’s a fun little 5-minute ride so check it out!
That’s all for this month. Meet us back here in April for another foray into the World of Death. Rock over London, Rock on Chicago!

Anna Faris & Regina Hall Promise ‘Scary Movie’ Will “Offend Everyone;” New Images Revealed
The Wayans are out to cancel the Cancel Culture with Scary Movie, and the cast assures it will do just that.
“They sort of have an across-the-board style,” Anna Faris tells EW. “It’s always been a part of the Wayans Brothers, their electricity. ‘Can we offend you? Will you still love us? Come on, you still love us, don’t you?'”
Regina Hall concurs, promising the “boundary-pushing” sixth installment in the horror parody franchise will “offend everyone.”
EW has shared a batch of behind-the-scenes images from Scary Movie, which hits theaters June 5 via Paramount.
Faris and Hall are joined by fellow franchise favorites Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Dave Sheridan, Lochlyn Munro, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, and Jon Abrahams in the legacy sequel.
The ensemble includes Damon Wayans Jr., Gregg Wayans, Kim Wayans, Benny Zielke, Cameron Scott Roberts, Heidi Gardner, Olivia Rose Keegan, Ruby Snowber, Savannah Lee Nassif, Sydney Park, Kenan Thompson, and Felissa Rose.
Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House) directs from a script by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, original Scary Movie director Keenen Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans (Scary Movie 2), and Rick Alvarez (A Haunted House).
The film will slash through reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories, anything with the word legacy in it, and every “final chapter” that absolutely isn’t final.
Scary Movie launched in 2000, followed by Scary Movie 2 in 2001. The Wayans’ involvement ended there, but the series continued with 2003’s Scary Movie 3, 2006’s Scary Movie 4, and 2013’s Scary Movie 5.
