With just over month until Rise of the Planet of the Apes hits the big screen, star Tom Felton has dangled a big banana for excited fans.
The 23-year-old British actor plays Brian Cox’s son, co-owner of the ape facility, in the Planet of the Apes prequel. He spoke exclusively to Bloody Disgusting ahead of the release of the final Harry Potter film next month and said Apes is “the best script I’ve ever read.”
In addition, at the bottom you’ll find a new international trailer that puts a ton of new footage on display.
“Well, to clarify, it’s the best that’s ever come across the desk for me to read,” he said.

Set in San Francisco, James Franco, Freida Pinto, Andy Serkis and John Lithgow also star in the film, which revolves around a scientist’s experiments with genetic engineering that lead to a dramatic increase in the intelligence of apes and the onset of war for supremacy. Rupert Wyatt is directing the film from a script by Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa.
Trading a “mad house” for an Oscar-winning visual effects house, the creature features are being created by New Zealand’s WETA Digital (The Lord Of The Rings trilogy, Avatar). But Felton kept the Charlton Heston-isms alive and said the experience on set was “mad, really.”
“One day I was working on Harry Potter, the next I’d upped sticks for the US,” he said.
“It was such a very different world to Hogwarts.”
The Harry Potter actor also hinted he’ll be swapping half-bloods for half breeds in the sci-fi blockbuster.
“Everyone asks about the crazy makeup,” he said.
“Great’ they say, ‘which monkey do you play?”
“This one’s a prequel. There are no humans wearing full monkey makeup.
“Half breeds may be born, but that’s about as much as I can say.”
Rise of the Planet of the Apes is out August 5.
