Earlier this morning, Paramount Pictures pulled back the curtain on the trailer for Terminator: Dark Fate, which is directed by Deadpool‘s Tim Miller.
While James Cameron‘s The Terminator and its sequel are considered among the best genre films of all time, critics and fans alike would like to pretend their follow-ups never happened. In fact, the studio is wasting no time in selling all of us on the ultimate direct sequel to Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Accompanying the trailer premiere, Paramount dropped a behind-the-scenes feature in which Cameron and company make it very, very, very clear that Dark Fate retcons the sequels and takes us back to the Judgment Day timeline.
In Cameron’s own words, “Terminator: Dark Fate is the direct sequel to Terminator 2.”
“This new film is to recapture that tone of the first two films; it’s gritty, it’s fast, it’s intense,” he adds while also noting that it’s “a white-knuckle ride.”
Paramount releases Dark Fate on November 1st, 2019.
