‘Blair Witch’ TV Spot Digs Deep into Horror

Published

on

Lionsgate has released a brand new TV Spot for Blair Witch, in theaters September 16. This time, we get more from inside a tunnel, which is going to hit claustrophobic viewers pretty hard.

In Wingard’s Blair Witch, penned by Simon Barrett, “A group of college students venture into the Black Hills Forest in Maryland to uncover the mysteries surrounding the disappearance of James’ sister who many believe is connected to the legend of the Blair Witch. At first the group is hopeful, especially when a pair of locals offer to act as guides through the dark and winding woods, but as the endless night wears on, the group is visited by a menacing presence. Slowly, they begin to realize the legend is all too real and more sinister than they could have imagined.

James Allen McCune, Callie Hernandez, Brandon Scott, Valorie Curry, Corbin Reid, and Wes Robinson star.

Here’s a blurb from my review:

” ‘Blair Witch’ is that game-changer horror fans desperately have been waiting for. It will usher in a new breed of genre films that are targeted at creating an emotional experience above all else. “Scary” is probably an understatement as this may just be the first film since ‘The Exorcist’ that will leave younger audiences scarred for life.”

Trevor Henderson’s viral artwork is all the rage in the wake of Backrooms changing the game for internet-created horror, with his creation Siren Head getting a feature film adaptation from Warner Bros. Deadline now reports that Henderson’s Cartoon Cat artwork is also getting a film adaptation, with Sony’s TriStar Pictures picking up the feature film rights.

Producers on board for the Cartoon Cat movie include Roy Lee, Steven Schneider, Scott Glassgold, and J. Todd Harris, along with Thomas Pettinelli and Marc Marcum.

Deadline notes in tonight’s report, “TriStar is said to be looking to hit the ground running on the filmmaker search to bring Cartoon Cat to life. The menacing cat is described as an ancient hollow rot that uses the collective human awareness and memories of old cartoons as a passageway to manifest into our reality – and wreak violent havoc.”

“Nicole Brown and Malcolm Gray of Tri-Star are responsible for wrangling the evil cat and will oversee its fast-tracked development,” Deadline’s exclusive report continues.

All of us here at Bloody Disgusting have been big fans of Trevor’s artwork for many years now, with his podcast Mayfair Watchers Society living on our BloodyFM Podcast Network.
