Fan-Made Live-Action ‘Ghost in the Shell’ Teaser is Damn Near Perfect

Late last night, we posted the first footage from Ghost in the Shell, the upcoming manga-to-film adaptation of Masamune Shirow’s incredible cyberpunk thriller series. Broken into five different mini teasers, the footage showed Scarlett Johansson as “The Major” as well as Takeshi Kitano’s “Daisuke Aramaki”.

However, watching five short teasers in different videos can get kinda tedious, especially because there isn’t a good flow. Enter YouTuber Tim Gonzales, who took the footage and interspliced it with credits mimicing the title sequence from the original anime as well as its music. The end result is a teaser that’s just over one minute and conveys everything I need to see to ensure I buy a ticket. Seriously, Hollywood needs to give Gonzales a job because he took a little and went more than a long way with it. Hell, he hit a damn home run, in my opinion.

Ghost in the Shell tells the story of The Major (Scarlett Johansson), “…a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic’s advancements in cyber technology.

Directed by Rupert Sanders, Ghost in the Shell stars Scarlett Johansson, Rupert Sanders, Michael Pitt, Juliette Binoche, “Beat” Takeshi Kitano, Michael Wincott, and Pilou Asbæk.

Ghost in the Shell hacks its way into theaters on March 31st, 2017.
