Gone are the days when you’d know nothing about a movie, which allowed the filmmakers to build up to a quality scare. Now, we have to see everything, right? It’s the only way to get people’s asses into theater seats…
It’s hard to argue against spoilers in trailers, especially when you need some hot footage to sell the film. It’s unfortunate that it’s the reality of today’s marketing. Paramount Pictures just unloaded four TV spots for Rings, which means these will be playing on televisions across the country leading up to the February 3rd release. It’s a shame, really, because they spoil so many of the films scares. Samara is going to be plastered everywhere by the time this hits theaters, which means that by the time anyone is sitting in a dark theater they’re already going to be desensitized to her. Oh well, it is what it is…

The seven days are up for several of the cast, which include Matilda Lutz, Alex Roe, Johnny Galecki, Aimee Teegarden, and Bonnie Morgan.
A young woman becomes worried about her boyfriend when he explores a dark subculture surrounding a mysterious videotape said to kill the watcher seven days after he has viewed it. She sacrifices herself to save her boyfriend and in doing so makes a horrifying discovery: there is a “movie within the movie” that no one has ever seen before…
Samara is a vengeful spirit (played by Bonnie Morgan) who comes after anyone that watches the franchise’s cursed video, which is now going viral.
F. Javier Gutierrez directs Rings, the third film in The Ring franchise, which began with the 2002 J-horror remake that was directed by Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean). A sequel was released in 2005.
