WORLD OF DEATH Ep. 70 – The Cleansing Hour

Published

Hello Viewers!

Welcome to another WORLD OF DEATH premiere!

We live in a technological age where success is measured by how fast you can go viral.  Everyone wants to make a quick dollar and be the next big internet sensation.  Good thing everything on the internet is real, right?  I think we all know the answer to that question.  But what happens when one of these internet superstars comes face to face with karma?  Karma in the form of a demon itself.

Today, it is our honor to present to you the World Online Premiere of director Damien LeVeck’s The Cleansing Hour.  In this tale of terror, a con man of the clergy named Father Lance (Sam Jaeger; Parenthood, American Sniper) performs staged exorcisms live online for the world to see.  However, this time there’s an unwanted guest that is trying to steal his audience.  For the first time, Father Lance has to believe in the power of his little white collar or succumb to the twisted entity lurking on his broadcast.

The Cleansing Hour stars Heather Morris (Glee, Spring Breakers), Neil Grayston (SyFy’s Eureka, Warehouse 13), and musician Jonny Radtke.  Damien LeVeck directs a terrifying and powerful short that is sure to breathe some life into a stale sub-genre desperate for a modern makeover.  LeVeck creates a fast-paced chiller with some real seat-gripping tension.  There’s even a little humor thrown in for relief at the right times.  Heather Morris churns out a stellar performance reminiscent of Jennifer Carpenter as Emily Rose.  Sam Jaeger grabs the screen with his Joel Osteen meets Constantine type of swagger.  There’s a good mix of practical and subtle CG FX that are pretty much seamless.  All of this makes for a heart-pounding 15 minutes.  I think this would make a great premise for a new series and would love to see this fleshed out in it’s entirety.

There’s a certain realness to this movie that reflects on our modern society of viral videos.  As I mentioned earlier, it’s hard to believe everything you see on the internet, but it seems that we’re drawn more and more to violent and obscene live videos through social media.  In the interim, the word “viral” has taken an almost literal meaning, infecting us with all that is evil in the world.  So next time, you want to view the breaking news story with an embedded murder or torture video, take a step back and try to disengage from it.  Instead, come here and let us satisfy your deep-rooted thirst for blood.

Hurry up and get some popcorn because the show is about to start!

We present to you…THE CLEANSING HOUR.

– Dominick DeLuca

‘Mockbuster’ Exclusive Clip Reveals the Chaos of Making a Dinosaur Movie For The Asylum

Mockbuster documentary

Out today in select theaters and on digital platforms is heartfelt and playful documentary Mockbuster, which sees a director cold call a studio and ask to helm a lost-world dinosaur epic.

Inexplicably, they say yes.

Our exclusive clip below highlights both the comedic nature of this bizarre scenario as well as the pressures of shooting dino feature The Land That Time Forgot in a mere six days, with no real feature experience.

A dino attack scene causes friction on set in this scene.

In the documentary, “A struggling filmmaker’s opportunity collides with chaos and compromise when Sharknado’s notorious studio, The Asylum, invites him to direct a ‘mockbuster.’ With six days, a micro budget, and mounting pressure, Mockbuster is a comedic, behind-the-scenes documentary exploring the balance between low-budget filmmaking and creative ambition.”

More than just an inside look at filmmaking via low-budget film studio The Asylum, it doubles as one man’s pursuit of his dreams to charming, humorous effect.

Mockbuster is a documentary about my own journey, but it’s also a love letter to one of the last grindhouses still functioning in Hollywood. We get to meet the characters and creators of some of the most infamous (and most hated) B-movies of the last few decades. People who make movies purely for profit – no pretension, no artistry, just monsters, C-listers, and chaos. A film that both genre fans and cinephiles can enjoy. But Mockbuster isn’t just about filmmaking, it’s about losing sight of your dreams, and reclaiming them in your own twisted way,” Director Anthony Frith said in a statement.

From Executive Producer and famed documentarian David FarrierMockbuster opens in select theaters and on digital platforms beginning July 10.
