Super Fancy ‘The Beguiled’ Poster
In Sofia Coppola’s The Beguiled, world premiering at the 2017 Cannes International Film Festival, Colin Farrell plays a wounded enemy soldier during the Civil War who is given shelter at an all-girls boarding shool.
The trailer showed that Farrell is up to no good, looking more like a wolf in sheep’s clothing than one of the good guys. It’s unclear what he does to infuriate the ladies, but it looks like the saying “hell hath no fury like a woman scorned” is the central theme of The Beguiled, which boasts an insane cast that also includes Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst, and Elle Fanning. Oona Laurence, Angourie Rice, Emma Howard, and Addison Riecke also star.
‘The Beguiled’ is an atmospheric thriller from acclaimed writer/director Sofia Coppola. The story unfolds during the Civil War, at a Southern girls’ boarding school. Its sheltered young women take in an injured enemy soldier. As they provide refuge and tend to his wounds, the house is taken over with sexual tension and dangerous rivalries, and taboos are broken in an unexpected turn of events.
Focus Features will release The Beguiled in select cities on June 23, 2017, expanding to more theaters on June 30, 2017.
Paramount is heading to Sleepy Hollow with a brand new feature film take on the classic Headless Horseman tale, with Lindsey Anderson Beer (Pet Sematary: Bloodlines) announced to direct the movie back in 2022. But is that project still happening, now two years later?
The Hollywood Reporter lets us know this afternoon that Paramount Pictures has renewed its first-look deal with Lindsey Anderson Beer, and one of the projects on the upcoming slate is the aforementioned Sleepy Hollow movie that was originally announced two years ago.
THR details, “Additional projects on the development slate include… Sleepy Hollow with Anderson Beer attached to write, direct, and produce alongside Todd Garner of Broken Road.”

The origin of all things Sleepy Hollow is of course Washington Irving’s story “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” which was first published in 1819. Tim Burton adapted the tale for the big screen in 1999, that film starring Johnny Depp as main character Ichabod Crane.
More recently, the FOX series “Sleepy Hollow” was also based on Washington Irving’s tale of Crane and the Headless Horseman. The series lasted four seasons, cancelled in 2017.
