Arrow Films to Release ‘The Villainess’ in the UK
Jung Byung-gil (Confession of Murder, 2012) is working with Park Chan-wook greats with his action-packed The Villainess, which premiered out of competition at Cannes to some really strong buzz. Well Go USA already picked up all North America rights, while ScreenDaily is reporting that Arrow Films will release in the UK.
Kim Ok-bin (Thirst), Shin Ha-kyun (Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance), Sung Joon, and Kim Seo-hyung star in this insane looking thriller from Next Entertainment World.
In the film:
“Sook-hee, a trained assassin, takes revenge on the men who murdered her husband. After losing consciousness, she awakes at the National Intelligence Service. The NIS wants her to undertake confidential missions, but Sook-hee initially refuses. However, Sook-hee decides to accept her new identity as Yeon-soo in order to stay alive. Under her new identity, she meets Hyun-soo, and they dream of starting a family. However, on the day of their wedding, she is assigned a new mission that changes everything.”
Bloody Disgusting shared this exclusive clip that’s a POV shot that looks as intense as the scene in Gareth Evans’ The Raid films. I’ve always said I like the idea of POV footage being integrated into traditional storytelling, and this looks like an awesome use of it.

Al Pacino and Dan Stevens have both joined the cast of the upcoming exorcism horror movie from XYZ Films and director David Midell, Variety reports this afternoon.
Based on a true story, the film “follows two priests — one questioning his faith (Stevens) and one reckoning with a troubled past (Pacino) — who must put aside their differences to save a possessed young woman through a difficult and dangerous series of exorcisms.”
Variety details, “The film is an authentic portrayal of Emma Schmidt, an American woman whose demonic possession culminated in harrowing exorcisms. Her case remains the most thoroughly documented exorcism in American history.”
David Midell and Enrico Natale wrote the screenplay for The Ritual.
XYZ Films is planning to release the horror film theatrically in 2025.
