Christine to Cameo in ‘The Dark Tower’?!

While the trailers for The Dark Tower aren’t really doing it for me anymore, there’s another reason to look forward to Nikolaj Arcel‘s adaptation of the Stephen King saga.

As previously reported, the film allegedly calls back to several of King’s other works. Two have been confirmed in the film’s first trailer.  On the desk of a therapist’s office is a photo of The Shining‘s infamous Overlook Hotel, and later in the trailer, young Jake Chambers stumbles across what looks to be the ruins of Pennywise’s very own theme park! Another monstrous easter egg was confirmed by King, who revealed that Cujo will take a bite out of the cast as well.

On the eve of the San Diego Comic-Con, Arcel participated in a reddit AMA where he teased not only the aforementioned Cujo cameo but that a certain “vehicle” will also make an appearance. Which vehicle is he referring to? It could be the “From a Buick 8” novel but I think it’s safe to assume that he’s referring to the iconic Christine, which was adapted into a feature film in 1983 by John Carpenter! What form will the Plymouth Fury take in the film?!

If there are already four cameos confirmed what else can we expect? One that we won’t see is King himself, who asked the filmmaker to “never to put him in any of the films.”

The Dark Tower stars Idris Elba as Gunslinger Roland Deschain, who roams an Old West-like landscape in search of the dark tower, in the hopes that reaching it will preserve his dying world. He’s accompanied by Jake Chambers (Tom Taylor), with Matthew McConaughey playing the Man in Black.

Filming is underway on The Invisible Man director Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man for Universal and Blumhouse, which will be howling its way into theaters on January 17, 2025.

Deadline reports that Matilda Firth (Disenchanted) is the latest actor to sign on, joining Christopher Abbott (Poor Things),  Julia Garner (The Royal Hotel), and Sam Jaeger.

The project will mark Whannell’s second monster movie and fourth directing collaboration with Blumhouse Productions (The Invisible Man, Upgrade, Insidious: Chapter 3).

Wolf Man stars Christopher Abbott as a man whose family is being terrorized by a lethal predator.

Writers include Whannell & Corbett Tuck as well as Lauren Schuker Blum & Rebecca Angelo.

Jason Blum is producing the film. Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner and Whannell are executive producers. Wolf Man is a Blumhouse and Motel Movies production.

In the wake of the failed Dark Universe, Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man has been the only real success story for the Universal Monsters brand, which has been struggling with recent box office flops including the comedic Renfield and period horror movie The Last Voyage of the Demeter. Giving him the keys to the castle once more seems like a wise idea, to say the least.
