Don’t act like you never wanted to see the Jurassic Park T-Rex attack a DeLorean.
In the wake of all kinds of pre-release internet hate, Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One debuted at SXSW over the weekend, the film mostly garnering positive reviews and thus far holding strong on Rotten Tomatoes with an aggregated review score of 78%. Hey, it’s almost like this Spielberg guy can make a good movie after all. Go figure!
Meredith Borders reviewed Spielberg’s latest out of SXSW, writing that it’s “probably the nerdiest, shallowest, least intellectual movie I’ll enjoy this year… but damn, did I enjoy it.”
She also noted that an entire sequence pays tribute to a horror classic!

Ready Player One arrives on March 29, 2018.
“The film is set in 2045, with the world on the brink of chaos and collapse. Spielberg directed from a screenplay by Zak Penn and Ernest Cline. The film was produced by Donald De Line, Spielberg, Kristie Macosko Krieger and Dan Farah; with Adam Somner, Daniel Lupi, Chris DeFaria and Bruce Berman serving as executive producers.
Ready Player One stars Tye Sheridan (“X-Men: Apocalypse,” “Mud”), Olivia Cooke (“Me and Earl and the Dying Girl,” “Bates Motel”), Ben Mendelsohn (“Rogue One – A Star Wars Story,” “Bloodline”) and T.J. Miller (“Deadpool,” “Silicon Valley”), with Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead) and Oscar winner Mark Rylance (“Bridge of Spies”).
