eBay Bans ‘A Serbian Film’ Auction?!

Published

Should some movie tickets come with coupons for therapy?

Last week, we told you that a handful of props from Srdjan Spasojevic’s A Serbian Film were being auctioned off on eBay, one of particular note – that of a newborn baby.  It was used in one of the most infamously vile scenes in horror history, and the prop was on display the other weekend at an event dubbed A Serbian Film Exhibition in Los Angeles, California. Now, we’ve been alerted that eBay has banned the auction and removed all of the listings.

“They have even refused to sell the costumes, stuffed toys and well, you know, the other stuff,” Unearthed Films said in a statement.

No reason was provided as of this writing, so we’re assuming it violated their TOS in some way, shape or form, but it’s still hard to see what’s wrong with auctioning off movie props? Thankfully, they’ve decided to set up their own shop where eBay would “unable to enforce their narrow-minded morality test.” While it’s not live yet, it will be activated early this week.

The item in question is shared again below:

“The Baby that shook the world! This is the original screen used Baby from A Serbian Film that featured in One of the most talked about, praised and condemned, censored and celebrated, and downright disgusting scenes in cinema history. This rare one of a kind prop can be yours if the price is right.”

Original bidding for the prop had started at $6,000.

Filming is underway on The Invisible Man director Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man for Universal and Blumhouse, which will be howling its way into theaters on January 17, 2025.

Deadline reports that Matilda Firth (Disenchanted) is the latest actor to sign on, joining Christopher Abbott (Poor Things),  Julia Garner (The Royal Hotel), and Sam Jaeger.

The project will mark Whannell’s second monster movie and fourth directing collaboration with Blumhouse Productions (The Invisible Man, Upgrade, Insidious: Chapter 3).

Wolf Man stars Christopher Abbott as a man whose family is being terrorized by a lethal predator.

Writers include Whannell & Corbett Tuck as well as Lauren Schuker Blum & Rebecca Angelo.

Jason Blum is producing the film. Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner and Whannell are executive producers. Wolf Man is a Blumhouse and Motel Movies production.

In the wake of the failed Dark Universe, Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man has been the only real success story for the Universal Monsters brand, which has been struggling with recent box office flops including the comedic Renfield and period horror movie The Last Voyage of the Demeter. Giving him the keys to the castle once more seems like a wise idea, to say the least.
