Orion Classics Acquires Indie ‘Clara’s Ghost’ Ahead of Cinepocalypse
Orion Classics has picked up the North American and Latin American rights to Bridey Elliott’s Sundance drama Clara’s Ghost, reports THR. The film is set to have its Midwest Premiere at the forthcoming Cinepocalypse in Chicago on Sunday, June 24th (get tickets).
Orion, recently relaunched by MGM as a multiplatform distribution label, will release the comedic mystery that features members of the Chris Elliott clan, including “SNL” alum and comedian daughter Abby and actor-filmmaker Bridey, in theaters, VOD and Digital HD in the fall of 2018.
Set over the course of a single evening in the Reynolds family home in suburban Connecticut, Clara’s Ghost follows Clara Reynolds who, fed up with constant ribbing from her self-absorbed showbiz family, finds solace in and guidance from the supernatural force she believes is haunting her.
The film marks the directorial debut for Bridey Elliott, who also wrote and stars in Clara’s Ghost.
“I grew up in a family who treasures the art of filmmaking so being able to work with my dad, mom, sister and the rest of this incredible cast on my first feature is a dream come true,” she said.
The ensemble cast includes Chris Elliott, Isidora Goreshter, Haley Joel Osment and Paula Niedert Elliott as Clara.
Clara’s Ghost debuted at Sundance and will continue its festival play at BAMcinemaFest on June 21.
In the wake of this week’s brand new trailer, Ishana Night Shyamalan’s upcoming horror movie The Watchers once again has a new release date. And as the headline of this article suggests, New Line Cinema has moved it back to its original release date. Say what?!
The Watchers had originally been set for theatrical release on June 7 before being recently bumped to June 14. But we’ve learned tonight that it’s been moved back into the June 7 slot.

The film follows Mina, a 28-year-old artist, who gets stranded in an expansive, untouched forest in western Ireland. When Mina finds shelter, she unknowingly becomes trapped alongside three strangers who are watched and stalked by mysterious creatures each night.
The Watchers stars Dakota Fanning (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), Georgina Campbell (Barbarian), Oliver Finnegan (“Creeped Out”) and Olwen Fouere (The Northman).
The upcoming mystery-horror film is produced by M. Night Shyamalan, Ashwin Rajan and Nimitt Mankad. The executive producers are Jo Homewood and Stephen Dembitzer.
Joining writer/director Shyamalan behind-the-camera are director of photography Eli Arenson (“Lamb,” “Hospitality”), production designer Ferdia Murphy (“Lola,” “Finding You”), editor Job ter Burg (“Benedetta,” “Elle”) and costume design by Frank Gallacher (“Sebastian,” “Aftersun”). The music is by Abel Korzeniowski (“Till,” “The Nun”).
The Watchers is based on the novel by A.M. Shine.
