Family road trips are often meant to bring families together via fun-filled adventure. More often than not they turn into living hell on four wheels for everyone involved because who likes to spend time with their family? No one, really. Now imagine the RV you’re traveling in is possessed and trying to destroy you? Not great. Unfortunately for Denise Richards and Mischa Barton that’s precisely what they have to deal with in the new supernatural thriller, The Toybox, from ClownTown director Tom Nagel.
The Toybox will open in Los Angeles on September 14th for a one week run at Laemmle’s NoHo 7. The film makes its way to home video on September 18th with a Blu-ray and DVD release for those that prefer the physical option, and streaming heads can choose from Amazon Instant, iTunes, iN DEMAND, DirecTV, Comcast, Optimum, Dish and Google Play.
Richards and Barton are joined by Matt Mercer (Beyond the Gates), Jeff Denton, Brian Nagel, Greg Violand, Malika Michelle, David H. Greathouse and Katie Keene. Nagel directs from a script written by Jeff Denton.
Jennifer (Richards) and her family go on a summer road trip in a used RV with her husband’s estranged father and brother. Along the way, they find Samantha (Barton) and her brother, broken down on the side of the highway. After driving into the middle of nowhere, the RV takes on a mind of its own, crashing and stranding them in the scorching and isolated desert. Little by little, the unsuspecting group of travelers is blindsided by the terrible secrets within the walls of the RV and find themselves fighting to survive.
