Our friend John Campopiano is one of the biggest fans of Stephen King’s IT out there, a fandom that led to him writing and co-producing the forthcoming documentary, Pennywise: The Story of IT. As we recently told you, Campopiano is now teaming with filmmaker Ryan Grulich on Georgie, a short film that will bring the *original* Georgie Denbrough back to life.
The fan-made short from Creepy Kingdom is essentially an unofficial sequel to the 1990 mini-series adaptation of King’s IT, with actor Tony Dakota reprising the role he originated 28 years ago, as a young child. The upcoming short will be his first acting role in 25 years.

Co-writer/producer Campopiano tells us this week that filming just wrapped on the short, which Grulich directed. The team also sent over some comments about the shoot.
“GEORGIE is now wrapped and we’ll soon be moving into post-production. In many ways, working on this short film project has been a dream come true,” Campopiano told us. “Collaborating with Tony Dakota on this fever dream story was surreal and very rewarding. Our West Coast crew who helped make this idea a reality were all top notch. It seems the stars have been aligning for us and we’re all anxious and excited to present it to the world. I think that fans of IT and Stephen King will find something inside the tiny universe we’ve created that will satisfy their darkest cravings. That’s the hope, anyway!”
Grulich added, “GEORGIE is an intentionally disorienting film, the production was no different. All I can say now is that taking this film from concept to wrap was a super wild ride. The most intense short film I’ve worked on. We were graced with a very special cast, a highly capable and dedicated crew and backers who believed we could execute a unique reimagining of a cherished American story. As we move into post production, our goal is to honor all those folks by making something really fun to watch.”
