While the Academy Awards don’t take place until next February, the campaign trail is just beginning. Last year, our genre celebrated several big victories, but none would be as big as Toni Collette winning Best Actress for her performance in Hereditary. She has some fierce competition this year, especially with Lady Gaga’s performance in A Star is Born, but I truly believe Collette is the one to beat.
While they both still need to be officially nominated, Collette kicked off her Oscar campaign by winning Best Actress at last night’s Gotham Awards. There are several award ceremonies leading up to the Academy Awards and we expect Collette is going to win a handful of those.
