Following Venom, Sony’s next dark Spider-Man spinoff will bring the Marvel Comics vampire Morbius to the screen for the very first time, with Jared Leto playing the titular blood-sucker.
After several “first look” sneak peeks and a handful of leaked shots from set, Leto has given us a full look at his Michael Morbius, a scientist who, in trying to find a cure for a rare blood disease, accidentally transforms himself into a living vampire. Though disgusted by his own bloodlust, he chooses to prey upon criminals he deems unworthy of life.
Jared Harris, Matt Smith and Adria Arjona also star. Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless wrote the script.
Morbius was created by writer Roy Thomas and artist Gil Kane and first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #101, the first issue not written by Spider-Man co-creator Stan Lee.
Morbius arrives on July 31, 2020.
