As a result of spending most of my childhood in the 1990s, I have a particular fondness for the horror films that lined the shelves of my local Blockbuster throughout that decade, many of which went direct-to-video. So too does filmmaker Dustin Ferguson, and he’s shining a spotlight on that particular era of direct-to-video horror with a new documentary!
Over the weekend, Ferguson announced Direct to Video – Straight to Video Horror of the 90s, a “schlockumentary” that is currently in production.
“Filming the bulk of the interviews next month,” Ferguson announced on Facebook. “There’s a TON of fantastic talent from a whole gob of direct-to-video 90s classics (and movies that became big hits on VHS) doing interviews and I will begin revealing just who in a couple weeks.”
Thus far, Ferguson has let us know that Ed Gale (Dolly Dearest) and Bobby Ray Schafer (Psycho Cop) have been confirmed for interviews, with many more names coming soon.
