The other day we were treated to the first trailer for the Jason Lei Howden-directed action-comedy Guns Akimbo, which turned everything way past eleven.
In the film, Harry Potter, Horns and The Woman in Black’s Daniel Radcliffe has a gun bolted to each of his hands as he gets forced into being the next contestant in SKIZM, an underground gang that live-streams real-life death matches.
SKIZM kidnaps his girlfriend and blackmails him into dueling with the unstoppable Nix, a supremely badass killer that’s played by Bloody Disgusting favorite Samara Weaving (Ready or Not), who looks like a mix between Harley Quinn and Joker in Suicide Squad.
The footage looked absolutely bananas, reminding me of the nonstop fun of Crank that doesn’t give a fuck about anything but having a good time. Another trailer has already been made available, which carries a ton of new footage of Weaving all coked-up and kicking major ass.
Bloody Disgusting’s Rafael Motamayor reviewed the film out of its TIFF World Premiere and called it a “high energy” film that “delivers fun, dumb video game action.”
Guns Akimbo opens in select theaters on February 28, 2020.
