‘Halloween Kills’: Previous Tommy Doyle Actor Paul Rudd Gave His Blessing to Anthony Michael Hall

Published

One of the characters from the original Halloween who will be returning in David Gordon Green‘s Halloween Kills this October is Tommy Doyle, played by Brian Andrews in John Carpenter’s slasher classic and being played by Anthony Michael Hall in the sequel to the 2018 film. Of course, Paul Rudd had played the character more recently, back in 1995.

Rudd played Tommy Doyle in Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, and though his career has taken off since then, that doesn’t mean he’s forgotten about his horror roots.

Chatting with the Fantasm Podcast for an interview that was uploaded this week, Anthony Michael Hall shared a fun little story that makes Paul Rudd even cooler in our eyes.

I’ve got a little scoop for ya, this is really funny,” the actor told the podcast. “So one day, David Gordon Green texts me when I’m off – I wasn’t shooting that day – and he goes, ‘Yeah, I got a call from Paul Rudd, and he sends his best and he gave you his blessings – he’s really excited that you’re playing the part.’ I never met Paul Rudd but I thought that was really nice.”

Hall also teased that Halloween Kills is going to be “really intense.”

You can listen to the full chat below, where you’ll also find the first look at Anthony Michael Hall as Tommy Doyle in Halloween Kills that was released last year. Expect more soon!

Halloween Kills will arrive in theaters on October 16, 2020.
