Spanish director Alex de la Iglesia produced Juanfer Andrés and Esteban Roel’s 2014 thriller Shrew’s Nest, and the film is now getting an English-language remake from Paramount.
Deadline reports that Tony-winner Rachel Chavkin (Hadestown) will direct for Paramount.
“Set in Spain during the 1950s, Shrew’s Nest (Musarañas) follows an agoraphobic woman who raises her younger sister in an apartment locked away from the world. But one day, a reckless young neighbor, Carlos, falls down the stairwell and drags himself to their door. Someone has entered the shrew’s nest, and it doesn’t look like he’s leaving.”
The script was adapted by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski, the duo behind Super Dark Times, The Night House, SiREN and BD & Fangoria’s upcoming The Sisters of Samhain.
