Created by Rob Liefeld in the early ’90s, Image Comics character John Prophet is headed to the screen in the upcoming Prophet, a feature film adaptation of the comics that’s being penned by Marc Guggenheim (“Arrow”).
Deadline reports that Studio 8 is looking to build a franchise around the character. The site describes Prophet as “a DNA enhanced super-soldier placed into a cryogenic freeze for a future mission only to awaken prematurely in the present, searching for a mission that does not exist. The ruthless berserker must find his humanity.”
The site also notes that John Prophet is “expected to be part of the X-Force franchise launch that Drew Goddard is writing to direct.”
Producers on the feature film adaptation include Adrian Askarieh (Hitman: Agent 47), Brooklyn Weaver (Run All Night), Rob Liefeld, John Hyde and Terissa Kelton.
