Writer/director Teresa Sutherland’s (The Wind, “Midnight Mass”) directorial debut, Lovely, Dark, and Deep applies cosmic horror to a familiar genre setting, and XYZ Films has released the official trailer this afternoon along with release information.

Lovely, Dark and Deep hits theaters and VOD on February 22, 2024.

Watch the official trailer below.

Lovely, Dark and Deep is a psychological horror movie that centers on Lennon (Georgina Campbell, Barbarian), who seizes the opportunity to assume the coveted role of a back-country ranger at a remote outpost. While adapting to her solitary existence in the wilderness, she becomes aware of a lurking, sinister presence.

Driven by the need for answers, Lennon embarks on a journey through the ominous terrain, seeking to unveil the long-standing mystery that has haunted her since childhood.

The cast also features Nick Blood (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Wai Ching Ho (Hustlers).

Josh Waller (Mandy, Color Out of Space) produced the film under Woodhead Creative. Stefanie Coimbra served as an executive producer for House of Quest Films, alongside Molly C. Quinn, Matthew M. Welty, and Elan Gale representing QWGmire.

Meagan Navarro wrote in her Fantasia review last year, “Lovely, Dark, and Deep presents a unique possibility to the countless people who go missing yearly in national parks. Sutherland imagines the horrific potential lurking in the isolated pockets of the world, far removed from society, using Lennon as an audience proxy to navigate the nightmare.”

Meagan’s review continued, “The film employs lucid dream nightmare logic to spin its vague tale, leaving audiences to infer their own conclusions. It makes for a visually impressive debut but one that only skims the surface of a vast cosmic abyss.”

‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’ Heads Home to Digital Next Week

Published

Less than two months after releasing in theaters, where it has scared up $188 million at the box office, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is headed home next week, we’ve learned.

First reported by Ghostbusters News, Frozen Empire comes to Digital Tuesday, May 7.

In Gil Kenan’s Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level.

But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.

The cast includes Patton Oswalt, Kumail Nanjiani, James Acaster, and Emily Alyn Lind, alongside Bill Murray, Finn Wolfhard, Ernie Hudson, Mckenna Grace, Paul Rudd, Celeste O’Connor, Logan Kim, Annie Potts, Dan Aykroyd and Carrie Coon.

Jason Reitman, who directed Ghostbusters: Afterlife, is back to produce Frozen Empire.

Meagan wrote in her review for Bloody Disgusting, “Frozen Empire offers familiar set pieces, references, and easter eggs aplenty, but the nostalgia tank is now running on empty.”

“That may be enough for some, especially when Frozen Empire pulls out some deep-cut nods. But by the time the mid-credit scene kicks in, solely designed to inspire merchandising sales, it’s more likely to leave you ready for the Ghostbusters to retire in peace,” she adds.
