Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman Summon ‘Practical Magic 2’ Release Date
Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are returning as witch sisters Sally and Gillian Owens in Practical Magic 2, and the witchy sisters have summoned the official release date for the sequel.
Warner Bros. will conjure the sequel to theaters on September 18, 2026.
In the announcement below, Bullock and Kidman’s voices can be heard, casting a spell that leads to the release date reveal.
It was recently reported that Bird Box director Susanne Bier was in talks to helm Practical Magic 2. In the 1998 film, based on Alice Hoffman’s 1995 novel, “Two witch sisters (Bullock and Kidman), raised by their eccentric aunts in a small town, face closed-minded prejudice and a curse which threatens to prevent them ever finding lasting love.”
No plot details have been revealed for Practical Magic 2 as of yet, but the sequel is reportedly based on a later installment in Hoffman’s Practical Magic book series. It also feels safe to assume that the Owens’ family bad luck streak with love hasn’t run out quite yet.
Practical Magic was released in theaters for Halloween 1998, scaring up $68.3 million against a reported $75 million production budget. The film has since gained an ardent cult following that helped usher in a sequel nearly three decades later.
Akiva Goldsman (I Am Legend, A Beautiful Mind), who co-wrote the original, is returning to pen the sequel. Bullock and Kidman are producing alongside returning producer Denise Di Novi.
With a release date now in place, expect to hear a lot more about this sequel in the coming months.
Sunrise Films has announced the official North American release of William Bagley‘s horror comedy Hold the Fort, and it’s accompanied by an energetic new trailer.
Hold the Fort debuts on digital platforms on June 23.
In the film, “Lucas and Jenny think their life is finally coming together when the couple become homeowners. Little do they know that their new house comes with a big catch. Lucas and Jenny soon find themselves in a fight for their lives when they become trapped in a battle between their Homeowners Association and an onslaught of monsters from hell. The horror-comedy takes the timely concern of home-ownership and wraps this up in an entertaining action-packed thrill ride.“

William Bagley writes and directs, in addition to producing with Smith, Matt Dodd, Luke Williams, and Tim Reis (Adult Swim Yule Log).
Ahead of the release, Bagley said, “My goal with this film was to make a hilarious, fast-paced thrill ride while also telling a great story with heart. Hopefully, through all the blood, laughs, fights, and gags, you leave the film feeling inspired to tackle whatever life throws at you.“
Hold the Fort premiered at Fantasia last summer before going on to play FrightFest London, Toronto After Dark, and Beyond Fest.
I wrote in my review, “It’s an infectiously charming assemblage of jokes and monster vignettes bound together by a barebones plot with not much on its mind beyond delivering an entertaining time.”
