Despite casting reports earlier this month, Parker Posey (Scream 3, The White Lotus) confirmed that she’s no longer attached to Blumhouse Atomic Monster horror movie Sleepover in an awkward exchange on the Today show earlier this week.
Posey, appearing on the show to promote The Mob, threw host Craig Melvin for a loop when he wanted to talk horror, but the actress misheard him. The comically awkward exchange grew even stranger when Melvin prompted a discussion on Posey’s attachment to Sleepover: “Scream 3, Blade, and now you’re doing a new horror film. Tell us about your new horror film.”
“I’m not doing it,” Posey quickly answered.
“It says right here that you’re doing Sleepover!” Melvin pointed to his cue cards.
Posey reiterated that she’s no longer attached to Sleepover, that something came up. No other casting announcements have been made regarding Sleepover at this stage.
The film is said to be a “quintessential sleepover nightmare.”
Jacob Chase (Come Play) will direct the upcoming horror movie Sleepover from a screenplay he co-wrote with Night Swim’s Bryce McGuire, which is based on the latter’s original short story. Chase is fresh off directing Insidious: Out of the Further for Blumhouse Atomic Monster and Sony. The franchise’s sixth installment scared up $170 million at the worldwide box office.
Jason Blum is producing. Chase, McGuire, and Bea Sequeira executive produce. Sleepover is a Cinescape Entertainment production, presented by Universal and Blumhouse Atomic Monster.
Stay tuned.
