Sure he starred in 28 Weeks Later, but it wasn’t until The Hurt Locker‘s success that star Jeremy Renner got the street cred he deserved. The NY Times is reporting that Renner will topline the indie period thriller The Raven alongside Ewan McGregor. “(‘Locker’ has) allowed me to exhale and go, ‘OK, now I can really start,‘” Renner says. “Maybe it’s a form of arrival, maybe it’s a type of beginning.” It doesn’t specify which Raven they’re referring to, but it could be James McTeigue’s spin that is set in the last days of Edgar Allan Poe’s life, when he gets wrapped up in a serial killer investigation. FilmNation Entertainment and Endgame are producing. Renner is also in talks with Universal and director Peter Berg about taking the lead role in Battleship.
