Emile Hirsch Survives Horrid Alien Invasion ‘The Darkest Hour’

Have you guys seen Right at Your Door yet? It’s a really good self-contained thriller that I highly recommend you rent, especially since director Chris Gorak is gearing up for his alien invasion chiller The Darkest Hour for Summit Entertainment. My wife is pretty happy right now as it was announced today that Emile Hirsch (Lords of Dogstown, Speed Racer) will star in the supernatural film alongside Olivia Thirlby. Described as thriller in the vein of 28 Days Later, the $40 million pic revolves around a group of kids struggling to survive in Russia after an alien invasion. Lensing begins this June in Moscow. Timur Bekmambetov (Day Watch, Wanted) is producing alongside Tom Jacobson. Les Bohem and Jon Spaihts penned the screenplay.

Horror movie fanatic who co-founded Bloody Disgusting in 2001. Producer on Southbound, V/H/S/2/3/94, SiREN, Under the Bed, and A Horrible Way to Die. Chicago-based. Horror, pizza and basketball connoisseur. Taco Bell daily. Franchise favs: Hellraiser, Child's Play, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, Scream and Friday the 13th. Horror 365 days a year.

Landon recently teased on Twitter, “This is my love letter to DePalma.”

Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach wrote the script.

Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller and Cameron Fuller — “who brought the script in to Platinum Dunes” — are producing the upcoming Drop. Sam Lerner is an executive producer.

THR notes, “The film is a Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse production for Universal.”
