TV: Jason Patric to Punch Out the ‘Powers’

Jason Patric – who you may remember as “Michael” in The Lost Boys – is making his first dip into the world of TV and is in negotiations to star in “Powers,” FX’s adaptation of the super-violent Brian Michael Bendis-Michael Avon Oeming comic book, reports Heat Vision.

Sony Pictures Television is behind the pilot, which is being produced by Circle of Confusion and directed by Michael Dinner.

Patric will play “Christian Walker,” a cop who works in the Powers division of the police force and deals with crimes involving those endowed with special abilities.

The first story in the Powers comic, which is serving as the basis for the pilot, “involves the murder of Retro Girl, a superpowered celebrity. Walker, who gets paired up with a rookie on the case, is determined to track down the killer even if it costs him his badge.

Patric will join a cast that so far includes Charles S. Dutton and Bailee Madison.

Patric has always skewed toward the offbeat in his movie career, starring in films ranging from The Lost Boys and Rush to In the Valley of Elah and comic book movie The Losers.

‘Jason Universe’ – Horror Inc. Begins a New Era of the ‘Friday the 13th’ Franchise; Here’s the Plan

While we wait to see what happens with A24 and Peacock’s Friday the 13th TV series “Crystal Lake,” original Friday the 13th director Sean Cunningham’s Horror Inc. has announced Jason Universe via an exclusive report from IGN this afternoon, said to be the dawning of a “new era from the original owners of the Friday the 13th franchise.”

What does that mean, you ask? IGN details in their surprising report today, “New Friday the 13th activations will span a wide range of platforms from entertainment, games, immersive experiences, merchandise and more to be announced throughout 2024.”

“For decades, Jason shocked and thrilled audiences who kept coming back for more. We’re excited to work with Victor Miller and Marc Toberoff on new projects we’ll announce in the coming months,” said Robert Barsamian, President of Horror, Inc. “We’re focused on honoring the legacy while elevating the fan experience and appealing to today’s horror audiences as we develop new ways to watch, interact and engage with the Jason Universe.”
