Dynamite just announced their plans to bring back everyone’s favorite masked gunslinger, The Lone Ranger. Dynamite has done a bang up job with their recent revival of throwback comics, and this title looks to continue the trend. “The Lone Ranger: Snake of Iron” is written by Chuck Dixon with art by Esteve Polls, and it finds the Western hero and his partner Tonto, in the midst of a spirit war, where the shamans of the tribe predict the return of a powerful ghost.

Official Press Release:

Runnemede, NJ (May 9, 2012) – Dynamite Entertainment today announced the upcoming release of the latest Lone Ranger® adventures, The Lone Ranger: Snake of Iron. From Brett Matthews’s critically acclaimed take on The Lone Ranger to the exciting new series written by Ande Parks, Dynamite has had much success with America’s quintessential Western hero. The Lone Ranger: Snake of Iron #1 is written by comic book legend Chuck Dixon, drawn by Esteve Polls and with a cover by Dennis Calero will be available in comic book stores everywhere this July!

In The Lone Ranger: Snake of Iron #1, The Lone Ranger and Tonto are in the crossfire as a bloody Kiowa uprising draws these western legends onto the warpath. The Spirit Horse has returned to the plains and calls the tribes to battle. Is this a ghostly apparition or something else? If The Lone Ranger cannot solve the mystery then the land north of the Brazos will run red with blood!

“This series was a particular thrill for me,” says writer Chuck Dixon. “I grew up on Batman, Tarzan and The Lone Ranger and now I get to complete that triumvirate as a professional writer when I finally get a crack at writing a Lone Ranger and Tonto story. This is The Lone Ranger as I’ve always imagined him; a fearless defender of the defenseless in a lawless land. These stories are first and foremost westerns and this one is six-guns blazing and wild horses the whole way!”

“Chuck has a great voice for The Lone Ranger, and his take is inspired. We’ve worked with Chuck on quite a few titles, and we’re happy that he was able to write this special mini-series.” states Dynamite Publisher Nick Barrucci. “It’s great that we’re able to have Esteve Polls on the interiors. He’s really made The Lone Ranger his own. And Dennis Calero’s covers are some of the best I’ve seen – the story and character are bringing out his best work. Look for more from Dennis and Dynamite in the near future.”

Best-selling author Chuck Dixon, considered one of the most prolific comic book scriptors in the history of the medium, is perhaps best known for his decade-long run on multiple Batman titles for DC Comics. He has also contributed to Conan the Barbarian, the Punisher and Moon Knight for Marvel Comics as well as work for dozens of other companies. He is the co-creator (along with Graham Nolan) of the Batman villain Bane!

Chuck Dixon also writes Wheel of Time and Seal Team 6 for Dynamite Entertainment!

‘Witchblade’ is Getting Resurrected This Summer in New Comic Series from Top Cow and Image Comics

Witchblade, the popular comic series that initially ran from 1995 to 2015 and launched a TV series, is getting resurrected in a new comic series from Top Cow and Image Comics. It’s set to unleash heavy metal, black magic and blood this summer.

Look for the new Witchblade series to launch on July 17, 2024.

In Witchblade #1, “New York City Police Detective Sara Pezzini’s life was forever fractured by her father’s murder. Cold, cunning, and hellbent on revenge, Sara now stalks a vicious criminal cabal beneath the city, where an ancient power collides and transforms her into something wild, magnificent, and beyond her darkest imaginings. How will Sara use this ancient power, or will she be consumed by it?”

The series is penned by NYT Best-Selling writer Marguerite Bennett (AnimosityBatwomanDC Bombshells) and visualized by artist Giuseppe Cafaro (Suicide SquadPower RangersRed Sonja). The creative duo is working with original co-creator Marc Silvestri, who is the CEO of Top Cow Productions Inc. and one of the founders of Image Comics. They are set to reintroduce the series to Witchblade’s enduring fans with “a reimagined origin with contemporary takes on familiar characters and new story arcs that will hook new readers and rekindle the energy and excitement that fueled the 90’s Image Revolution that shaped generations of top creators.”

Bennett said in a statement, “The ability to tell a ferocious story full of monsters, sexuality, vision, and history was irresistible.” She adds, “Our saga is sleek, vicious, ferocious, and has a lot to say about power in the 21st century and will be the first time that we are stopping the roller coaster to let more people on. I’ve loved Witchblade since I was a child, and there is truly no other heroine like Sara with such an iconic legacy and such a rich, brutal relationship to her own body.”

“The Witchblade universe is being modernized to reflect how Marguerite beautifully explores the extreme sides of Sara through memories, her personal thoughts, like desire and hunger, in her solitude and when she is possessed by the Witchblade. So, I had to visually intersect a noir True Detective-like world with a supernatural, horror world that is a fantastic mix between Berserk and Zodiac,” Cafaro stated.

Marc Silvestri notes, “This is brand new mythology around Sara, and I can’t wait for you to fall in love with her and all the twists and turns. Discover Witchblade reimagined this summer, and join us as we bring all the fun of the 90s to the modern age and see how exciting comics can be. I can’t wait for you to read this new series.”
