This Generation’s 10 Most Disappointing Horror Games!

Yeah, I know, Dead Island was disappointing too, possibly even more so to some of you. That unforgettable trailer set it up for failure, really. I still enjoyed the first game quite a lot, despite its numerous flaws, and much like Saw, it set the foundation for the sequel we all wanted, expected and hoped for the first time around. Instead, Techland decided to rest on their laurels and craft a half-assed pseudo-sequel/cash-grab that added nothing to the series’ proven formula. The setting, combat, weapons, enemies and characters — except for a couple paltry additions to each area — were all the same. I can’t help but feel that Riptide was just an elaborate crowd-funding campaign for Dying Light.

Unless Techland surprises us all, Riptide killed this franchise. Not because it’s a bad game, but because it removed any interest I had left in the series.

I’m sure I missed something that you’re seething over right now, mentally preparing a heated comment to set me straight and possibly even hurt my feels in the process. Or maybe one or more of the above games shouldn’t be on here? Feel free to set me straight in the comments! But please, be kind, I am but a delicate flower that cannot withstand your fury.

And of the games on this list, which was most disappointing to you?
