Not content with having two creator owned comics on the shelf, human comics machine Rick Remender is set to debut a brand new series from Image in July. “Low” follows two teams of humans from the last remaining undersea cities on Earth as they make the treacherous journey to a wildly alien world – the surface. This sci fi fantasy series sees Remender teaming up with his frequent collaborator Greg Tocchini (The Last Days of American Crime, Uncanny X-Force) to bring a new spin on old ideas.
Excitement has been bubbling since the series was announced at January’s Image Expo and today the release date and preliminary art was released by Image. Hit the jump to see what it’s all about!
Tocchini’s art is stunning. The duo’s work on Uncanny X-Force was some of my favorite in the series. Remender is one of those writers who manages to find artists who compliment his writing style beautifully, and if this art is any indication it looks like he has yet another home run on his hands. The work here reminds me of “Saga” in all the right ways, a little darker, but crisp clean art, with vivid and almost flat color.
