Even though Lionsgate released Alexandre Aja’s debut feature High Tension in theaters back in 2005, Aja’s colorful slasher actually made its debut in France on June 18, 2003 under the title of Haute Tension.
It then made its international premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, 2003 where our very own Mike Pereira was on hand.
In the gory slasher, two college friends, Marie and Alexa, encounter loads of trouble (and blood) while on vacation at Alexa’s parents’ country home when a mysterious killer invades their quiet getaway.
Since its release, Aja has gone on to direct a wide variety of genre films from The Hills Have Eyes to Mirrors, Piranha 3D and the upcoming Horns.
Even back in 2005 the finale was controversial and separated fans. All of these years later, how do you feel today about High Tension?
