Paranormal – Your Apartment
Its decidedly Paranormal Activity-esque setting may keep indie developer Matt Cohen’s Paranormal from being wholly original, but the execution is where it truly shines. The game follows an artist who upon witnessing supernatural happenings in his home at night decides to whip out a video camera in an effort to document them. The hauntings are randomized, making this very replayable, and they get progressively more intense as you progress through the story.
In related news, Cohen is currently busy working on rebuilding the entire house in what’s essentially a reboot of the base game. There’s also a standalone expansion in the works, dubbed The Town because it aims to bring the randomized scares to an entire town.
Fun fact: The next time you boot up the game, keep an eye on the laptop that sits on the table in the living room for an Easter Egg I would describe as Bloody Disgusting.
