Claudia Wolf shouldn’t be as scary as she is in Silent Hill 3. We’re constantly being inundated with stories of awful things done by cults disguised as devout religious groups, yet somehow, this freaky lady still manages to terrify me.
Claudia shares the beliefs of the Order, the supernatural cult she belongs to, that humanity is evil. We’re a blight on this beautiful space rock that’s in desperate need of some divine cleansing so that she and her followers can life forever inside a paradise free from sin. If any of that sounds familiar, congrats, you’re a step ahead.
The path the Order must take to bring about the end of the world is truly fascinating stuff. They need a god to create their paradise, and that god won’t come until after the human race has been wiped out, and that can only happen when humanity has endured an agonizing end. The reasoning behind this, if you can call it that, is their idea that a god born from suffering will be more inclined to create a terrific homefor whatever is left of humanity.
